Do you need more personalized care?
We all have periods of life where our physical and mental health is challenged. And the past several years have been particularly challenging for most people on at least one of these levels.
At Dynamic Paths, Dr. Kristen Allott helps you identify the underlying causes of your physical and mental health concerns and create a personalized plan to assist you in moving toward your goals.
Often, people come to us feeling frustrated with their medical care. They can feel their healthcare providers are only treating symptoms and not getting to the root causes of their health concerns. Some of the most common concerns we address in the first few appointments are fatigue, lack of motivation, anxiety, and depression. We help identify what is driving symptoms, and we find that both physical and emotional causes need to be addressed.
How do we work?
First, we listen. We listen to your story and experiences. We are listening to your story and experiences. By listening to your story and experiences, we start to formulate a plan. Based on what we hear, we work together to develop a unique course of action that addresses your symptoms while addressing the underlying cause.
Second, we educate. We use our knowledge of the body to identify potential causes of your symptoms. We help you identify and understand how physical conditions such as nutrient deficiencies, glucose regulation, hormonal dysregulation, and inflammation may impact all of your symptoms. By identifying the physical causes, it’s easier to understand what is “emotional.” By addressing the physical deficiencies, you end up having more energy to address the emotional challenges.
Third, we use targeted testing. Using laboratory testing, you can better understand the nutrient, physiologic, hormonal, inflammatory, or other causes. For a list of common tests that Kristen performs, check out this link.
Fourth, we help you take action. We help you identify the most appropriate tools to impact your concerns.
Fifth, we help you change your relationship with your body. When you understand what your body is trying to communicate, you can respond in new ways. When you are better able to respond to your body, you better understand which actions will move you toward better health and resilience.

Six Appointment Process
Generally, people will meet with Dr. Allott for 5 to 6 appointments, depending on the individual. The first six appointments to understand better what is happening and begin to take action to address the cause can range from $1700 to $2400. These are the appointment costs and do not include labs or supplements. At each step of the way, we will advise you of the costs. We recognize that this is an investment in your health. We also know that it is costly to feel fatigued and frustrated that your health concerns are not being addressed.
Virtual or In-Person Appointments
Dr. Allott is licensed in the State of Washington and is only available to work with individuals who are physically in the State of Washington. She is available for virtual appointments for people who are in the State of Washington.
In-person appointments occur in Kristen's office in Tacoma, WA. Kristen follows the Department of Health of WA and City of Tacoma guidelines for in-person appointments. Dr. Allott reserves the right to use only virtual appointments. If you need in-person appointments and Dr. Allott cannot provide them, she will provide you with appropriate referrals.
What Could Cause Me to Feel This Way?
Glucose regulation: The primary fuel for your brain is glucose. If your body cannot keep your glucose levels stable, you will experience more anxiety, depression, and fatigue. When glucose regulation improves, symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks, anger, depression, fatigue, addictions, and bipolar disorder can improve. We use continuous glucose monitors to identify your glucose patterns over a two-week investigation to understand how glucose impacts your symptoms.
Nutritional deficits: These can be caused by not knowing what foods support your brain and body for a stable mood and energy or by your body not being able to absorb the nutrients in your food. Through lab testing, Kristen will check if you are absorbing protein, iron, B vitamins, and other vitamins and minerals to make sure you can synthesize neurotransmitters and support your body. We will review your eating patterns and then work with you to make an achievable change.
Neurotransmitter deficits: Your brain and body do not have unlimited resources. You quickly deplete your brain of certain neurotransmitters in your daily situations, making it hard for you to feel like yourself. Kristen teaches you about the primary neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, GABA, and acetylcholine). Through laboratory testing, you are absorbing nutrients needed to make neurotransmitters.
Inflammation: Research has shown that inflammation can aggravate depression, anxiety, pain, and cause fatigue. By identifying the cause and treating it, symptoms can improve. Both Heather and Kristen have years of experience working with complex inflammatory conditions. They understand there are many ways that inflammation can be addressed. Additionally, Kristen takes a comprehensive view of multiple labs to understand where and why you might have inflammation.
Hormonal Dysregulation: Hormones are the messenger system from the brain to the body. When hormones are not in their ideal range, they can cause or aggravate symptoms of physical, mental, and metabolic health conditions. Kristen can check through lab testing several hormones such as thyroid, progesterone, and cortisol levels. Heather and Kristen often address women's menstrual cycle dysregulation through lifestyle changes and Chinese herbs.
Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): If your childhood contained traumatic events or you experienced high stress as an adult, research has shown that this can disrupt many biological and emotional aspects. Sometimes, people's lives are so challenging that they may not know how to care for themselves, such as preparing food, knowing what to eat to have energy and mental clarity, sleeping well, and moving their bodies in enjoyable ways. We will listen carefully to your story to help you repair what you may have missed growing up so that you can heal both your brain and body from the past. Additionally, through lab tests, Kristen can assess the hormonal system, basic physiology, and metabolism to identify the less-than-optimal areas that can be addressed to improve your symptoms.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): Traumatic brain injuries can easily go years without being identified and treated and may present as anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, headaches, visual disturbances, and chronic neck and back pain. Some TBIs are determined by assessing how your eyes coordinate and how your vestibular or balance system is working. Suppose your visual and balance systems are not coordinating well. In that case, some of your symptoms may be that your brain is exhausted from navigating the simple task of walking in your daily life and may not have the bandwidth for anything extra. Kristen assesses the possibility that your symptoms are caused by deficiencies with your visual and vestibular symptoms and provides appropriate referrals for further workup and treatment.
Laboratory Analysis:
Kristen finds it helpful to perform lab tests to ensure that your nutrient status, physiological pathways, and hormonal levels are optimized for physical and mental health. When she reads your blood work, Kristen interpreters with tighter standards, with an eye to optimizing function. She wants you to be at levels that support your well-being rather than being at that represent the minimal health standard. One example where the laboratory standards are too low is iron. Here are some common laboratory tests that Kristen often orders.
Basic Laboratory testing [Link to webpage about labs]
Continuous Glucose Monitor
Cortisol and hormonal testing
Mitochondrial testing
Celiac testing
Complete thyroid testing, including anti-antibodies
Testing to identify pre-diabetes and diabetes
Immune system functioning
Inflammatory markers
Lipids panels
Vitamin and mineral markers
Testing for physiological causes of symptoms of Long COVID.
Genetic Testing: More and more information is known about how genetics affect our brains and bodies. If you have reacted negatively to almost every medication, you might want to have your pharmacogenetic profile done. This laboratory test looks at what medications your liver can process. Some people cannot genetically detoxify certain medications. Other people are super-detoxifiers. They need a higher dosage for certain medications to work.
Additionally, specific genetic profiles, such as MTHFR or COMT genes, can increase the risk of depression and anxiety. Supplementation and lifestyle habits can be as effective as medications. In other words, genetic testing may help you better understand the causes of your symptoms, which will allow for more effective treatment.
